In 1997 the 14th Secondary School was named Lieporiai Secondary School after Lieporiai village.
In 1999 school community took part in the International Socrates Comenius project for the first time and since then the school has been actively involved in Comenius, Grundtvig, Nordplus and Erasmus+ projects.
The school creates and cherishes traditions and also establishes a distinctive image. Since 2003 the uniforms and caps and gowns were introduced by the school community. The school embodies active self-governing institutions. Moreover, a non-governmental institution “Lieporiai School Community“ association, which unites teachers, parents and students, was established in 2005. The school became a gymnasium in 2009.
Lieporiu Gymnasium provides formal upper secondary education to children aged 15-19. We have 60 teachers and 565 pupils. Its priority is to ensure high quality academic standards to help students get their GSCE and guide them to further studies in higher education. A lot of emphasis is put on students’ participation in academic and creative contests and olympiads to attain the best results in the chosen field. Innovative approaches have been developed to help students to achieve success and cope with learning problems. Gymnasium offers students social educator’s, psychologist’s and career consultant’s services. Alongside, a wide range of extra-curricular activities and clubs are organised to promote students’ creativity and talents .The school’s distinctive characteristics lies in its strategy – an open- to-changes and continuously learning community. In this respect the school stands out from other institutions in town for its school-based Association Lieporiai School Community whose mission is to involve community members in the learning environment for personal and recreational purposes. Strong community is seen as an efficient tool to deal with the challenges that current education system reform and overall demographic situation in the country brings about.
